John Wesley famously taught that there are four key sources for all knowledge about God. Today, these are called the “Wesleyan quadrilateral.”
1. Human reason and rational examination
2. Personal experience of all of life, including our spiritual side
3. The great teachings of the Church that have stood the test of centuries
4. The Holy Scriptures as revealed by divine inspiration
If there is any doubt or conflict of evidence, the Scriptures are the highest test and final authority.
