Dr. Colleen Derr

Dr. Colleen Derr is associate professor of congregational spiritual formation and assistant dean of curriculum at Wesley Seminary, Indiana Wesleyan University. In addition, she provides oversight to the Master in Child, Youth, and Family Ministry and the Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Formation (Fall 2018). Before coming to Wesley Seminary, she served as director of children’s ministry for The Wesleyan Church and as a local church children’s pastor. She developed a catechism program for The Wesleyan Church, Building Kids Faith, a preteen discipleship resource, Explore, and a host of training and leadership development tools, articles, presentations, and blogs. Colleen’s research focus is in the fields of spiritual formation, ministry to children and families, and transformational communication. InterVarsity Press Academic will release her latest publication, Transformational Communication in the Power of the Holy Spirit in 2017. Colleen is passionate about partnering with and equipping local church leaders as they develop ministries where all their people–children, teens, and adults–experience spiritual transformation that leads to holiness of heart and life.
