The reason for your hope

In our Christian pilgrimage, we will have endless opportunities not only to preach about Christ from a platform, but in our daily lives we can preach Christ by our example, our attitudes, and our conversations. The moment we tell the Lord to be the owner of our lives, we become ambassadors to reflect the change that happened in our lives from that decision. For this reason, it is not surprising when a person approaches you and asks: "Can you tell me what it is that you have, and how can I have it, also?” Here is my answer to this question:

For Christ to be the Lord of your life, you first need to recognize all your bad attitudes, decisions, words, all the bad things that you have done, that we call sin. Now, ask Jesus Christ to forgive you for all these sins and tell him that from now on you want him to be your help to do things according to His desire.

This is a request that you make by your own choice, understanding that before, you were allowing the devil to be the master of your life. But now Jesus Christ is the master of your life, and your big decisions which must be guided by him. Ask him for his help at every opportunity you have. Every word that comes out of your mouth should reflect his presence in you. If we look in the Bible, we see that God is love (1 John 4.8), and now that we are his children, we are love also; we are "little loves." That is how we are to reflect him in every moment of our lives.

The moment you accept Jesus Christ as your only and sufficient Savior, he becomes your guide, your peace, your joy for as long as you allow. He becomes your strength and your guide through his Spirit. There will be times when you will want to do what you want, make your own decisions, and even go against God's desire for your life. This is natural, because the devil is not at all pleased with the decision you have made. This makes you an easy target of his false ideas. So you need to recognize that it must no longer be you who make the decisions, but Christ who lives in you (Gal .2.20). The Bible says that Jesus Christ came to die for all mankind, but on the third day rose from the dead, overcoming death, sin, and the devil who wants you to go against the will of God. That is why it is very important that you always remember that now that you are in Christ, you are a new creature (2 Cor. 5.17), and that everything is made new in him.

After inviting Jesus Christ to be your Lord, you need to create a friendship relationship with him. You need to know his heart, depend on him, talk about him, share with others about him. This can be achieved with four habits that you should foster from now on.

1. You need to dedicate time with God in prayer, talking to him.
2. You need to get together with God's family. By receiving Jesus as your Lord, you become a part of his family. The church is the best place where you can find that warmth of family.
3. As you saw Christ in me, you must also reflect him and speak to others about the change in your life.
4. In addition, you need to know him by reading the Bible. There you will be able to understand his heart and he will also speak into your life.

At the beginning, these four habits are not going to be easy, so I would like to help you in the process, in your new life in Christ. Give me one hour of your time a week. That way, we will be able to follow step-by-step your new life in Christ. During the first weeks I will help guide you in the importance of these four habits. You can count on me anytime you need me. Write down anything you want us to discuss, and when we meet again, we will talk about it. But most important of all remember that now you will be a new creature. The old you is in the past and now you and your future are in the hands of God.

En nuestro peregrinar cristiano,tendremos un sinfín de oportunidades, no solo de predicar acerca de Cristo desde una plataforma, sino que, en nuestro diario vivir, en nuestro peregrinar cristiano, podremos predicar de Cristo con nuestro ejemplo, con nuestras actitudes y con nuestras conversaciones. Desde el momento cuando le decimos al Señor que venga a ser el dueño de nuestras vidas, nos convertimos en embajadores de reflejar el cambio que ocurrió en nuestras vidas desde que hicimos esa decisión. Por tal motivo, no es de extrañar que una persona se nos acerque y nos pregunte: “¿Me puedes decir qué es y cómo se obtiene?”. He aquí, mi respuesta a tal pregunta:

Esta es una invitación que haces en tu propia decisión, y lo hacemos sabiendo que antes estábamos permitiéndole al diablo que fuese el señor de nuestras vidas. Pero ahora Jesucristo es el dueño de tu vida, él es jefe de tus decisiones y, por lo tanto, deben ser guiadas por Él, debes pedirle Su ayuda en cada oportunidad que tengas. Pídele que cada palabra que salga de tu boca venga impregnada con Su esencia. Si miramos en la Biblia, vemos que Dios es amor (1 Juan 4:8) y ahora que venimos a ser sus hijos, nos convertimos, prácticamente, en “amorcitos”. Es por ello que debemos representar a Cristo en cada momento de nuestras vidas.

En el momento cuando aceptamos a Jesucristo como nuestro único y suficiente Salvador, Él viene a ser nuestra guía, nuestra paz, nuestro gozo… siempre y cuando tú y yo se lo permitamos. Él vendrá a ser tu fuerza y tu guía por medio de Su Espíritu. Habrá momentos en los cuales vas a querer hacer lo que te dé la gana, tomar tus propias decisiones e, inclusive, ir en contra del deseo de Dios para tu vida. Eso es normal puesto que el diablo no está nada contento con la decisión que has tomado y eso nos hace un blanco fácil de sus falsas ideas, de sus mentiras. Por tal razón, necesitas reconocer que ya no eres tú quien toma las decisiones, sino que Cristo vive en ti (Gal. 2:20). La Biblia dice que Jesucristo vino a morir por toda la humanidad pero que al tercer día se levantó de entre los muertos, venciendo así la muerte, el pecado, y, sobre todo, venciendo al diablo quien desea que vayas en contra de la voluntad de Dios. Es por eso que es muy importante que siempre recuerdes que ahora estás en Cristo, que eres una nueva criatura (2 Cor. 5:17) y que todo es hecho nuevo en Él.

Después de invitar a Jesucristo a ser tu Señor, necesitas crear una relación de amistad con Él. Necesitas conocer Su corazón, depender de Él, hablar de Él, compartir con otros de Él. Esto solo se logra con 4 hábitos que tienes que fomentar de ahora en adelante:

1. Necesitas sacar de tu tiempo para dedicárselos a Dios en oración, hablando con Él.
2. Necesitas reunirte con la familia de Dios. Al recibir a Jesús como tu Señor y salvador, vienes a ser parte de Su familia. La iglesia es el mejor lugar donde puedes encontrar ese calor de familia.
3. Así como lo viste en mí, también debes reflejar a Cristo. Debes hablarles a otros acerca del cambio que Él ha tenido o que Él ha hecho en tu vida.
4. Además, necesitas conocerle leyendo la Biblia. En ella, podrás entender Su corazón y Él hablará a tu vida.

Al principio, estos cuatro hábitos no van a ser fáciles de llevar a cabo, por lo que yo quisiera ayudarte en este proceso en tu nueva vida en Cristo. Lo que quisiera es pedirte que me regales una hora de tu tiempo a la semana. De esa forma podremos ir aprendiendo, paso a paso, sobre tu nueva vida en Cristo. En las primeras semanas, te guiaré sobre la importancia de los cuatro hábitos que mencioné anteriormente. Recuerda que puedes contar con mi ayuda en cualquier momento que me necesites. Apunta todo lo que quieres que hablemos y cuando nos volvemos a ver, hablaremos de ellas. Pero, lo más importante de todo, es que recuerdes que ahora eres una nueva criatura, tu viejo “yo” quedó en el pasado y ahora tu futuro está en las manos de Dios.
